5 Main Types of Eye Conditions and Their Symptoms

Several eye conditions can cause problems with one’s vision, and each of them develops a specific symptom. Sometimes, the symptoms are minor and easy to cure. However, some symptoms are harsh and need immediate treatment.

Few of the eye conditions lead to severe eye conditions are:

Glaucoma
When you suffer from damage in the optic nerve, doctors diagnose you with glaucoma. It is one of the main types of eye conditions and may require urgent medication. If you do not care for proper treatment, this specific eye problem may get serious gradually, leading to loss of vision.

Glaucoma has two individual types: angle-closure glaucoma and open-angle glaucoma. In the angle-closure glaucoma, you may have blurry vision, pain in the eyes and the areas around them, and red eyes. If you get open-angle glaucoma, the chances of you getting peripheral weak eyesight and tunnel vision are high.

Cataracts
This eye problem is one of the main types of eye conditions. In this condition, your eye lens becomes poor and light cannot properly cross through it. Hence, you get an unclear cloudy vision. Blurry sight is the most common symptom of the disease. Some other symptoms include redness, tears, and pain.

After developing it, you may face troubles like seeing properly in the dark and poor vision. You can even get to see halos and may not be able to recognize the exact color.

Conjunctivitis
Conjunctivitis is a common eye infection that most people suffer from at least once in their life. The disease is not as severe as the previous two, but the symptoms are extremely painful. In this eye condition, the lining tissues at the back of the eyelids get inflamed.

With conjunctivitis, you can get symptoms like yellow discharging, redness in the white portion of the eyes, intolerable pain, irritation, and unclear vision.

Dry eyes syndrome
Dry eyes syndrome is one of the main types of eye conditions. When your eyes cannot produce sufficient lubricant to keep them moist, you face this eye condition. This happens when your body cannot manage to secrete enough tears.

Due to dry eyes, you may experience some burning or tickling sensation in your eyes. Besides that, the disorder can lead to red and sensitive eyes. The crucial symptom of the disease is the formation of mucus surrounding the eyes.

Retinal detachment
You get the disease when your retina gets detached from its actual area. In the initial stage, the condition begins from a small breakage in the retina. Eventually, the whole part of the retina gets separated, leading to severe eye issues.

One of the primary symptoms of the disease is getting tiny spots or floaters.

These are some most occurring eye conditions and their possible symptoms. If you get any of these signs, make sure to treat them as soon as possible.
