The Top 5 Causes of Anemia

Anemia is known to be one of the most common types of blood conditions that occur among the people of our country. Recent research on this aspect has revealed that almost 6% of the country’s residents are currently suffering from this condition.

Almost all the main types of anemia usually occur as a result of various chronic diseases that causes blood loss. However, sometimes, they can also affect people because of several other reasons. The following ones are some of them.

Production of faulty RBCs
The bone marrows are mainly responsible for producing the red blood cells in your body. For that, they usually first create stem cells which later develop into RBCs. However, if your bone marrows are affected or damaged, then they will start producing defective red blood cells. It will disrupt the normal RBC production and lead to anemia. One of the main types of anemia, known as iron-deficiency anemia, is usually caused by this issue.

Genetic issues
According to many doctors, the genes of your body also play an essential role in causing or preventing anemia.

Destruction of RBCs
As you might already know, the red blood cells of your body can live up to 120 days. However, in some cases, such as auto-immune diseases, they can also die beforehand and disturb the standard RBC production procedure of your body. Numerous main types of anemia can be caused by this issue. Among these, the acquired hemolytic anemia is known to be one of the most common conditions. This type of blood disorder occurs when your immune system starts attacking and destroying your RBCs.

Severe loss of blood
Blood loss can occur due to numerous reasons, such as in cases of accidents or hemorrhages. However, if your body suddenly loses a huge amount of blood, then it becomes difficult for your body to produce a healthy amount of RBCs to replace the lost ones.

Aside from accidents, rapid blood loss can also occur because of childbirth, cracked blood vessels, surgery, etc. Besides these, chronic blood loss can also lead to various main types of anemia, such as aplastic, hemolytic, and sickle cell.

Dietary deficiency
If you consume a small amount to no meat, then your body would not be able to get enough proteins that are required to make RBCs. Therefore, in these cases, your body’s overall red blood cell production will get reduced, which would ultimately lead to anemia.

Vitamin-deficiency anemia, which is considered by many doctors as one of the main types of anemia, usually occurs because of this issue.

There are various factors and issues that can lead to several types of anemia in humans. However, among those, the five above-mentioned ones are known to be most prevalent and common.
